Happy Birthday, America!
Every year on July 4th, we celebrate the formal adoption of the Declaration of Independence, A.K.A. the birthday of America! Although the festivities for this year may look a little different, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy and celebrate America’s birthday. I know that I am planning to go on a nice hike with my mom, bake some patriotic pastries, and go out with a bang for the #1776Challenge with 76 burpees on the 4th. For those who do not know about Team RWB (Red, White, and Blue), this organization brings veterans and supporters together to celebrate service and the birth of our nation with a rigorous 18-day fitness challenge, with the final exercise being 76 burpees. I highly encourage everyone to check it out or find their own July 4th themed workout!
With every holiday, I think it is important to educate yourself on why we celebrate. I have included an article for just that reason explaining the significance, history, and reason for such a celebration! For well over 200 years, America has been celebrating with fireworks and it has become a beautiful and exciting tradition. Although fireworks are mesmerizing for many, please keep in mind some of our combat veterans who may suffer from PTSD during these festivities. This does not mean do not celebrate, but to just be situationally aware and courteous of the times in which you choose to celebrate with fireworks. I have attached an article on raising awareness for PTSD in this regard, while still being able to celebrate and enjoy the festivities.
Whether it be tye-dyeing t-shirts, baking patriotic pastries, or having a good old-fashioned BBQ, I hope everyone has safe and star-spangled Fourth of July!
