Thankful in November

Happy November! Since this month has both Veterans Day and Thanksgiving, I wanted to share a popular poem that applies to both these special days.

It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Here at Stronger Warrior Foundation, we are thankful for the Soldiers and Veterans who protected and continue to protect these important freedoms. Freedom often gets taken for granted when we get caught up in our daily lives. We are thankful for the military spouses and children who sacrifice time with their loved ones when another deployment comes. We are also thankful for military parents for raising their children to become selfless leaders that chose a job that serves others over themselves. Thank you to all Servicemembers and their families. We hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and holiday season.
