Hoops for Troops X Adaptive Warrior
As a part of the Hoops for Troops, and Adaptive Warrior programs, the Detroit Pistons, Strategic Staffing Solutions, and Veterans Empowerment Neighborhoods recently partnered with Stronger Warrior Foundation to complete a special home renovation for a local veteran.
The remodel, completed by metro Detroit contractor Derris Marshall of Proper Tech Inc., was sponsored by the Detroit Pistons and Strategic Staffing Solutions with a generous donation of materials by Home Depot.
The organizations worked together to provide a bathroom remodel for United States Marine Corporation veteran, Ronald Smith. Mr. Smith served as a private in the Marine Core, and is currently suffering from a cervical myelopathy disability, which causes difficulties in his day-to-day activities.
“S3 has long championed our military veterans and we support them in many ways,” said Strategic Staffing Solutions CEO Cynthia Pasky. “Our nation’s veterans epitomize the ethics fortitude, altruism, loyalty, grit and smarts that make them ideal employees. Here at S3, veterans impact every area of our business in locations around the world. So, it’s not only the right thing to do in supporting and hiring them, but also the smart thing to do.”
The Adaptive Warrior program aims to help relieve the financial burden that service members may incur as a result of injuries sustained in post, combat and/or non-combat related service. The program is dedicated to assisting selected Warriors in need by financially supporting adaptive living additions to homes, vehicles and additional necessities. The goal of this program is to keep our nation's service members, past and present, stronger together.
“There are currently 4.7 million disabled Veterans in the United States. Many of these disabled Veterans have housing and vehicle needs that are strenuous and expensive,” said Zachary Osaer, Director of Adaptive Warrior. “We want to help achieve a better quality of life for those who have dedicated their time for our country.”
In 2021, $24,000 renovations will be granted through Adaptive Warrior Foundation. For application details, contact Zachary Osaer at zac@strongerwarriorsfoundation.org or (734)679-4710.
